Central District San Francisco Real Estate & Homes for Sale in California

Located at the geographic center of San Francisco, the Central District is a study in extreme topography and sociology. Positioned on the “leeward” side of Twin Peaks – two hills standing almost 910 feet tall – Central San Francisco enjoys a warmer microclimate than the rest of the city and is protected from much of the Bay Area fog. Upwardly mobile singles, young families, and white- and blue-collar workers all call Central San Francisco home. Residents appreciate the area’s sun and low crime rates. As their names imply, Dolores Heights, Parnassus and Ashbury Heights, Clarendon Heights and Corona Heights offer some of the best views in the entire city. Ashbury Heights is uphill from the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood made famous by former residents Jerry Garcia and Janis Joplin. Mt. Olympus is a secluded park at its summit, towering over quiet homes and contemporary apartments. Real estate options are plentiful. In Clarendon Heights, large homes with tiled roofs and Spanish arches are perched on the city’s second highest mountain. Parnassus Heights’ detached and wood-shingled homes on tree-lined streets are wrapped around the northeast slope of Mount Sutro. Homes with a view in these sub-districts range in price from $595,000 to more than $2.7 million. Diverse real estate offerings, delightful weather and proximity to the rest of bustling San Francisco make the Central District an ideal home.
